WooCommerce Product Image Renamer — SEO-Friendly Filenames in One Click

Stop wasting hours renaming product images by hand. Product Image Renamer renames your WooCommerce images to SEO-friendly filenames in one click — individually or across your entire catalogue.

14-day money-back guarantee. License key sent by email. No second plugin to install.

The problem

Your product images look nothing like their SKUs

Suppliers send images as IMG_4822.jpg. Photographers deliver DSC_0001.jpg. Search engines see none of that as relevant to your product.

Meaningless filenames

Images arrive from suppliers as IMG_4822.jpg or photo (1).jpg — Google ignores them entirely.

Lost image SEO

Search engines rank images partly by filename. A file named blue-widget-BW-100.jpg outranks IMG_0032.jpg every time.

Impossible to organize

Hundreds of images with random names make it nearly impossible to find which image belongs to which product.

Manual renaming is torture

Renaming via FTP or the media library one by one — then re-uploading — takes hours and breaks links.

How it works

1

Install the plugin

Install & activate Product Image Renamer. Enter your license key in Settings → Image Renamer to unlock Pro.

2

Preview the new name

Open any product — the Image Renamer sidebar shows you the current filename and the new SKU-based name before anything changes.

3

Rename — individually or in bulk

Click "Rename Image" on a single product, or go to Tools → Image Renamer to rename your entire catalogue at once.

Everything you need to fix your product image naming

Built specifically for WooCommerce. No FTP, no re-uploading, no broken images.

SKU-based filename

Renames each image to the product's SKU. If there's no SKU, it falls back to the product slug. The result is always a clean, SEO-friendly filename.

One-click rename per product

An Image Renamer box appears in the sidebar of every product edit screen. One click renames the featured image — you see the preview before committing.

Bulk rename

Go to Tools → Image Renamer and rename up to 10 products at once on Lite, or your entire catalogue in one run on Pro. No FTP, no re-uploading.

Gallery images Pro

Pro renames all gallery images too, appending clean suffixes: sku-1.jpg, sku-2.jpg, sku-3.jpg. Every image in the product, named correctly.

Auto-rename on save Pro

Enable auto-rename and every time a product is saved, its images are renamed automatically. Add a product, set a SKU, save — done.

Custom rename pattern Pro

Go beyond SKU. Build your own filename pattern using {sku}, {title}, and {slug} tokens. Example: {sku}-{title}BW-100-blue-widget.jpg.

Alt text update

Automatically sets the image alt text to the product name when renaming — improving accessibility and on-page SEO at the same time.

Zero broken images

Every rename updates the file on disk, all WordPress-generated thumbnails, the media library database entry, and the product association — nothing breaks.

Simple, honest pricing

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it rename the actual file on the server?

Yes — the plugin renames the physical file in your WordPress uploads directory. It also updates all WordPress database references (the media library entry, the product's featured image link, all thumbnail sizes) so nothing breaks and no images go missing.

What happens if a product has no SKU?

If a product has no SKU, the plugin uses the product slug as the filename base. For example, a product with the slug blue-widget produces blue-widget.jpg. You can always set a SKU later and re-rename.

Will renaming break my existing product images?

No. The plugin updates every reference in the WordPress database at the same time — the media library record, the product's thumbnail ID, and all generated thumbnail sizes. Your images continue to display correctly after renaming.

What's the difference between Lite and Pro?

Lite renames the featured image only and limits bulk rename to 10 products per run. Pro unlocks gallery image renaming (all gallery images with –1, –2, –3 suffixes), unlimited bulk rename, auto-rename on product save, custom filename patterns, and alt text format control.

How does Pro activation work?

Purchase Pro below — your license key arrives by email instantly. Install the plugin on your WordPress site, then go to Settings → Image Renamer, paste your license key and click Activate License. Pro features unlock immediately on that site.

Does it work with variable products?

Yes — variable products work the same way. The rename applies to the featured image and, on Pro, all gallery images attached to the product. Variation images linked to specific attributes are also supported.

What payment methods are accepted?

We use Paddle as our payment processor, which accepts all major credit cards, PayPal, and many local payment methods worldwide. All payments are processed securely by Paddle.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes — we offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all Pro licenses. If it doesn't work for you, contact us within 14 days of purchase and we'll issue a full refund with no questions asked.
